Alternative Fantasy

I prefer the name "alternative press" over "indie press" because it reminds me of the alternative music scene of the 80s and 90s, where bands like Soundgarden and Jane's Addiction re-wrote the rules and created art that explored new ground while defining an entire musical generation. Along the same lines, I'd say my books are "alternative fantasy," not "indie fantasy." Elevated pulp isn't really pulp, but it's not mainstream fiction either. The mainstream has no appeal for me in any art form and it never has. I like the weirdos, the freaks, and the non-conformists. If you're going to embrace a genre, do something new with it. Destroy any categorical boundaries that bring limitations.
