Magnificent Exiles (and Beyond)

The latest book in the Scaleborn Saga, MAGNIFICENT EXILES, is now on sale in eBook form, and the paperback will follow on February 11. EXILES marks the fourth book in the series, but these books can be read in any order. Of course, I recommend starting from book one, IMMACULATE SCOUNDRELS, in order to get a view of the bigger picture and various connections between characters. However, you don't have to do that. I wrote this series with an eye toward making every single book an "entry point" to the Scaleborn universe.
Brian LeBlanc has once again delivered a superb and evocative cover, and Dan Sauer returned to work his cover design magic. 2026 is going to be a banner year for Flying Wizard Press.
In the works is a collection of the Magtone Saga tales, a picaresque novel of wild adventure, high sorcery, and doomed kingdoms that first played out in the pages of WEIRDBOOK magazine. It's been a long-standing goal of mine to get all of the Magtone tales collected under one cover, and this year we will make that happen. Together, they form an extended narrative that is quite unlike anything else I've written. Brian LeBlanc will be doing the cover art for this book as well, because when you've got pure gold at hand, you don't have to settle for copper or silver. Brian has a unique talent for bringing my vision and my characters to life, and his stellar work has helped to define the look of not only the Scaleborn Saga, but Flying Wizard Press itself.
Another project coming later this year will be the WORLDS BEYOND WORLDS EXPANDED EDITION. This will entail re-releasing my most acclaimed story collection (originally published by DMR in 2021), with the addition of five new tales composing the complete Saga of Gnori the Bold. The first three Gnori tales appeared in BOOK OF BLADES (Vols. 1 & 3) and in the NEITHER BEG NOR YIELD anthology. However, the final two Gnori adventures will only be available in this expanded collection. These two culminating tales are: "The Skulls of Our Fathers," and "Lay Down Your Sword, Lay Down Your Life."
The WORLDS BEYOND WORLDS EXPANDED EDITION will also feature a brand-new cover by Brian LeBlanc (of course!), which will most likely feature a scene from one of Gnori's exploits. By including the entire Gnori Saga in the book, even those who bought the original DMR version of the collection will have a good reason to pick up the Expanded Edition. I could release the Gnori Saga all by itself for the same price, but I'd rather package it with the WBW tales to create something really special.
I'm also working on a Carsonne novel for release in early 2027. I've tentatively entitled it THE BOOK OF CARSONNE, but that could change as work on the book proceeds. This novel will be set in the same universe as the Scaleborn series, but without being an actual part of that series. As I mentioned in my last post, I'm leaning away from series from here on out, in favor of individual novels. The longer you keep a series going, the more you are beholden to what has come before, so I hope this change in focus will afford me greater freedom to explore the fantastic realms that live in my heart, mind, and soul. I will continue to bring them into the material world for as long as I am able, and Flying Wizard Press (along with Kindle Direct Publishing) is giving me the opportunity to do exactly that.
I'm thrilled to finally get MAGNIFICENT EXILES into the readers' hands. I also have a Carsonne story coming up in OLD MOON QUARTERLY #9, which should be available very soon.
